HEPA Filter Testing and Certification

High Efficiency Particulate Air filters are designed to remove at least 99.99% of any airborne particulates entering into the room. These filters are commonly used in rooms in which clean air is required to ensure quality testing. Tests are performed to determine whether or not the integrity of the media has been compromised.

To test the filters a concentration of a test aerosol is added into the air stream, and a downstream sample or scan is taken on the clean side of the filter to ensure the amount of particles does not exceed the respective limits. This test is performed using a calibrated light scattering photometer. HEPA Filters that are installed in containment equipment or rooms must be frequently tested to ensure the quality of air is in compliance with appropriate standards. Any filters with minor leaks can be repaired as identified. If a repair cannot be made then a replacement filter should be installed at the discretion of the customer.
